Import guides

Import from India, by category

HS classification, destination documentation and certifications — one guide per category, with a separate page for UAE and US import requirements.

Ayurvedic Supplements

Herbal and nutraceutical formulations — capsules, powders and extracts — manufactured in India under FSSAI licence and exported as a food supplement, not a drug, unless the listing states otherwise.

Spices

Whole, ground and blended spices exported from India, the world's largest spice producer and exporter, under Spices Board and FSSAI oversight.

Essential Oils

Steam-distilled and cold-pressed oils from Indian spice, herb and flower crops, sold for fragrance, flavouring or cosmetic-ingredient use.

Tea

Black, green and specialty tea from Indian estates and blenders, graded and packed for export.

Packaged Foods

Shelf-stable Indian packaged foods — snacks, ready-to-eat meals, condiments and preserves — packed for retail export.

Cosmetics

Skincare, haircare and personal-care formulations manufactured in India for export under FSSAI/BIS oversight.

Natural Stone

Marble, granite and other dimensional stone quarried and processed in India, exported as blocks, slabs or finished tiles.

Ingredients

Bulk food-industry inputs — defatted flours, protein meals, lecithin, textured proteins and crude/refined oils — sold to formulators and manufacturers, not packaged for retail shelf.

Botanical Extracts

Standardized branded botanical and herbal extracts — sold as raw ingredients to supplement, nutraceutical and functional-food formulators, not as finished consumer products.

Chemicals

Industrial and specialty chemicals manufactured in India — surfactants, intermediates, technical-grade acids and industrial fatty derivatives — sold to formulators and industrial buyers, not consumer-facing.

Rugs & Carpets

Hand-knotted, hand-tufted and woven rugs and carpets from India's traditional weaving clusters (Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Kashmir), exported as finished floor coverings.

Handicraft

Handmade decorative and craft goods from India's traditional craft clusters — Moradabad brass, Jaipur blue pottery, Channapatna wood, Saharanpur woodcraft — classified by material, not as a single tariff category.

Home Textiles

Bedsheets, cushion covers, curtains and other made-up furnishing textiles from India's home-textile clusters (Panipat, Karur), exported as finished retail-ready pieces.

Apparel & Garments

Knitted and woven garments from India's apparel-manufacturing clusters (Tirupur knitwear and other export-garment hubs), packed for retail export.

Leather Goods

Leather bags, wallets, accessories and footwear from India's leather-manufacturing clusters (Kanpur, Chennai, Agra), exported as finished retail goods.

Jewellery

Precious-metal and imitation/costume jewellery from Indian manufacturers, classified and regulated very differently depending on which of the two HS headings applies.

Pharma Ingredients & CDMO

Active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients and pharmaceutical intermediates sold as bulk material against a specification, plus CDMO and CMO contract-manufacturing capability sold as access to a site and a process. Finished dosage forms bound for the United States are explicitly excluded: a finished drug product needs an ANDA or NDA holder of record, state-level wholesale distributor licensing and DSCSA serialization at the unit level, none of which Indiasay holds or arranges. What a buyer qualifies here is the substance and the site, not a brand.
